Tudo Começa Com Um Nó
The women who live on Linga Linga weave with 'palha', a palm leaf that grows abundantly on the coast of the peninsula. The indigenous knowledge embedded in their hands, is expressed through their craft skills that come from their intimate, embodied connection with nature, agriculture and the community they are part of.
This short film captures the women’s voices that recount the knot that is the starting point of their work. It is as a symbolic reference to the way the artisans of the community are tied to one another and with the landscape through the indigenous craft. Moreover it reveals the eye they have for the blossoming and growth of their natural environment, which forms their livelihood.
“Everything starts with a knot.” – Dona Joana ¹
